Upcoming Shiurim
April 11- April 17
1) This Monday night at 8pm, we will be having a Yom Hashoah program. Evening highlights include the film,Secrets of the Dead: Escape from Auschwitz, and moderated discussion on resistance during the Holocaust in its militant, spiritual, intellectual, and moral forms. 2) This Wednesday at 4:00pm, Rabbi Schwartz will continue his class for seniors.
3) This Wednesday at 8:45pm, Rabbi Schwartz will give a shiur on the nature of the obligation of sefirat ha'omer.
4) This Shabbat, April 17th, we are privileged to be hosting Associate Dean of Revel, Rabbi Dr. Modechai Cohen, as part of the Revel Shabbaton. Rabbi Cohen will deliver the shabbat morning drasha, as well as a lecture during seudah shlishit entitled, "The Kuzari and Rashbam on Tzara‘at—Philosophical, Mystical and PeshatApproaches". Anyone who wants to find out more about Revel can speak with him over Shabbat.
Mordechai Z. Cohen received his semikhah from Rabbi Hershel Schachter at YU (RIETS) in 1989, earned an MA in English and Comparative Literature in Columbia in 1991, and a Ph.D. in Tanakh from the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies in 1994. He has been a popular Bible professor since he began teaching at YU over 20 years ago, and now serves as Associate Dean of Revel. Rabbi Cohen’s research focuses on Tanakh and parshanut he-miqra (Jewish Bible interpretation), and he has written important studies on the great commentators on Tanakh and their cultural backgrounds. Recognized as a leading authority in this field, he lectures regularly at academic conferences in the US, Europe and Israel.
